Develop and maintain software for Yamaha Motor Europe (YME) and its European distributor organisations with respect to Yamaha’s business applications, in order to ensure that Yamaha’s business in Europe is supported with reliable and stable software that reacts in a predictable manner and always delivers the expected result. The Analyst Programmer works closely together with the Application Analysts and his or her development team-lead or Department Manager; end users contacts are possible as well.

Principle Accountabilities:

·       Develop requested functionality

·       Develop the requested functionality based on the functional conceptual design and the related program and file specifications, following Yamaha’s development standards. Create programs that can be easily maintained and understood by other developers, where technological excellence is subordinate to usefulness. 

·       Test developed functionality (unit test)

·       Test developed functionality by ensuring that the software runs without bugs. This concerns the so-called unit test that makes sure that the developed or maintained software can be tested in functional manner thus preventing multiple unnecessary cycles between development and test phases. Typically, the unit test is executed by the analyst programmer that developed the changes.

·       Test developed functionality (functional test)

·       Test developed functionality by ensuring that the software is working as specified in the design documentation. This concerns the so-called functional test that makes sure that the developed or maintained software functions as specified and as requested by user without influencing related parts of the functionality. Typically, the functional test is not executed by the analyst programmer that developed the changes but by either other analyst programmers or by application analysts.

·       Define and design new functionality

·       Translate the user’s request into a client business requirement and subsequently into a functional conceptual design. This design has to be translated into program and file specifications following Yamaha’s IT design and development standards. If required, contact application analyst(s), team-lead development or department manager to clarify the user request.

·       Review code to improve code quality

·       Review coding of fellow developers before it is accepted for deployment. A full-stack developer is supposed to give objective feed-back in an unambiguous way. The feedback can consist of improvements in coding, efficiency or any other technical enhancement to make the application work more efficiently and stable.

·       Build and extend knowledge of Yamaha business procedures and their supporting applications

·       Build and extend in-depth knowledge of Yamaha’s business procedures to fully understand the user’s requests with respect to Yamaha’s business applications. This knowledge should be used to understand the (technical) implications and impact of changes in a broader sense. In this respect, knowledge of Yamaha’s operational business processes such as sales, purchasing, warranty, logistics, warehousing and financials in relation to the supporting business applications is considered most important.

·       Pro-actively signal improvements in functionality or business procedures

·       Pro-actively address and initiate application improvements in order to simplify, streamline and standardise business procedures. Propose improvements independently of user requests, using gained knowledge and experience. Convince key IT colleagues of the added value. 

·       Communicate with the (key) user community

·       Communicate in clear and unambiguous terms with (key) users about any relevant issue using any suitable tool for communication (mail, phone, presentations etc.).  Admit mistakes in functionality but also point out the user’s responsibilities in a professional non-accusative manner.

·       Communicate with IS colleagues and external consultants

·       Communicate in clear and unambiguous terms with IS colleagues and external (IT) consultants emphasizing both Yamaha’s IS strategy of centralisation, standardisation and integration and our responsibilities towards users, group companies, YMC and other stakeholders.

·       Actively promote and follow up upon the Yamaha Development Principles

·       The Java Developer full stack is supposed to understand the standard development principles and closely watch and coach the

·       development team in applying these. The Yamaha Development Principles stand for uniformity, standardization, technical principles that ensure high quality of

·       coding and a harmonized way of working in the development team.

Knowledge and Experience:

·       Minimum of 5 years business experience, either within Yamaha or comparable function elsewhere in the role of full-stack developer;

·       Bachelor or Master degree, preferably in Computer Science, Information technology;

·       Functional business and or application knowledge in the field of sales and warranty processes;

·       Excellent analytical skills;

·       Expert level knowledge of development technologies and knowledge of MS Office;

·       Full working proficiency in the English language, mastering other European languages is an advantage.

About Yamaha Motor:
Yamaha Motor Europe is responsible for coordinating the marketing and sales activities of Yamaha Motor products in the European marketplace, mainly: Yamaha motorcycles and scooters, marine outboard engines, Wave runner water vehicles, 4-wheel All-Terrain Vehicles (ATV’s), golf cars, snowmobiles and generators.
