For Yamaha Motor Europe N.V., located at Schiphol-Rijk in the Netherlands, we are looking  for a Product Regulation Coordinator in our Land Mobility Quality Assurance & Product Regulation Division

 

About the role: 

In this role, you, as a specialist of Government Relation and planning, will keep grasping the movement of European/National product regulation, be a window to external authority/association and prepare a method of response as the European head office.

This is to coordinate the environment for product regulations and to maintain compliance with product laws as a center overseeing Europe as a whole.

You will be required to be able to understand the trends in the formulation of product laws in Europe, to coordinate company's opinions with those of external organizations, to plan the formulation of interpretations of laws and incorporate them into internal systems, and to coordinate with people involved in the creation of internal systems.

It is also necessary to formulate your company’s stance on the new/revised  product laws and to coordinate interests with external organizations.

In addition, you will be required to initiate and initially implement a system to comply with these product regulations’ movement while maintaining in daily conversations with Europe and the head office.

 

Your responsibilities:

  • Ensure that novel products such as batteries, communication security, electric mobility etc. comply with ever-changing European and national laws in the best manner for the company;
  • Grasp European regulations and national regulations related to newly introduced products, and take the lead in working with related departments to prepare a system that allows product specifications and company structures to comply;
  • Build and maintain good relationships with outside parties/authorities to obtain timely information on product related regulation trends. This includes activities to build new relationships with new external organizations associated with new products;
  • Make adjustments based on your company's opinions to new laws including draft and industry stances that are formulated outside the company;
  • Establish policies and procedures for compliance with product laws. This includes identifying the impact of legislation and proposed legislation on your products and systems, and defining countermeasures;
  • Always share Product regulation trends related to these products with internal stakeholders. In cases where there is an impact on the business itself, such as requiring large investments or the construction of a system, this also includes activities to provide reliable information to related parties to enable them to make business decisions;
  • Establish a specific product compliance plan jointly with related departments, including Japan head office, and maintain and manage compliance activities for the entire European side as the European headquarters. Setup and manage task forces within Europe as necessary;
  • Define work related to product regulations required across European sites as necessary, establish and maintain guidelines;
  • Maintain communication with the functional departments that operate product regulations at the other sites to maintain uniformity of awareness and activities with each country's bases.


What do you bring?

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience on Development and/or Homologation. Electricity and/or Communications technology is desirable;
  • Bachelor or Master degree in engineering;  
  • In-depth knowledge of design and operation to comply with product laws;
  • Experience as a National expert in IEC, ISO, CEN/CLC and/or related laws, government relations, or knowledge of these field;
  • Functional knowledge in the field of New Products Development;
  • A team player who has the ability to calmly analyze the regulation movement and can lead activities while collaborating with related departments;
  • Ability to work on cross-functional, global teams and recognize larger picture beyond just detailed issues;
  • Communication skills to be able to interact with internal/external partners, with the ability to clearly present topic;
  • Willing to travel within Europe;
  • Fluency in English, written and spoken;
  • Good command of French or Japanese will be a plus.
