For Yamaha Motor Europe N.V., located at Schiphol-Rijk in the Netherlands, we are looking for a Credit Control Accountant in our Finance & Accounting Division. 

About the role: 

The Credit Control Accountant is responsible for overlooking the credit control activities performed locally at our branch offices and group entities in Europe. The tasks include among others, collecting and analyzing information on debtors through IT systems and communication with local colleagues in sales and credit control. Provides support and guidance to local staff while ensuring centrally developed policies are applied consistently in all countries we operate. It also includes overseeing the collection of customer accounts in a manner that ensures high customer satisfaction and loyalty. As such, he/she must be able to communicate in an efficient yet friendly manner. Periodic, as defined by the group policies, and ad-hoc reporting to management on debtor balances (e.g. aging, DSO, etc.) and outstanding issues, whilst highlighting potential debtor problems/risks advising solutions where possible. 

Your responsibilities:

  • Applying in practice procedures and policies that ensure timely payments while maintaining a high level of customer retention;
  • Ensuring credit and collection policies and procedures are followed overall we operate in Europe;
  • Monitoring debtor balances to ensure a reduction in debtors DSO, calculate and advice credit limits and terms;
  • Develop and report on relevant KPI’s in sync with management’s requirements;
  • Adopt and support professionalization of the credit control function for the group;
  • Evaluating new credit requests and conducting client credit checks;
  • Reporting to management in a structured and periodic/ad hoc manner that provides visibility into risks and/or opportunities;
  • Improve and implement debt collection processes when there are any overdue invoices or payments, and initiate payment plans and/or legal procedures if necessary.


    What do you bring?

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in accounting and/or finance/credit/treasury;
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Credit Control Accountant or similar role;
  • In-depth knowledge of receivables related processes;
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical skills;
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills;
  • The ability to listen to customers and negotiate winning solutions;
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists;
  • Strong English business language skills, other European languages are a benefit.
